Baku: The first production of ‘blue fuel’ under the free gas development project at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of fields is expected to begin in the summer months. Giovanni Cristofoli, BP’s regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye (AGT), shared this information during a meeting with media representatives specializing in the oil and gas sector.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Cristofoli highlighted the progress of the project, which aims to tap into the vast gas reserves of the ACG block. The initiative is part of BP’s broader strategy to enhance energy production and support regional energy demands. The ACG fields, located in the Caspian Sea, are among the most significant oil and gas producing regions in the area.
The development of the free gas project is seen as a pivotal moment for the ACG block, which has been a major contributor to the energy sector for years. The introduction of ‘blue fuel’ production is expected to bolster the region’s energy output, providing a stable supply of natural gas.
Industry experts attending the meeting noted the importance of this development in the context of global energy markets. As countries increasingly seek alternative energy sources, the ACG project’s successful implementation could position Azerbaijan as a key player in meeting international energy needs.
