Farid Osmanov: Large-Scale Efforts Underway to Strengthen Cybersecurity

Baku: “Along with the advantages brought by global digital development, there are also significant risks and threats. Therefore, it is extremely important for government agencies, the private sector, and individual users to prioritize cybersecurity in order to ensure the sustainable and secure implementation of digital transformation,” Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, said during his speech at the graduation ceremony of the ‘Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center’ held in Baku today.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Osmanov highlighted that large-scale measures are currently being implemented in Azerbaijan to strengthen cybersecurity. He pointed out that the Action Plan of the ‘Information Security and Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2023-2027,’ approved by President Ilham Aliyev on August 28, 2023, includes key areas such as the creation of a registry of information security risks, incident monitoring, expansion of AI application areas, and protection of personal data. A priority direction in the strategy is also the development of a qualified workforce.

Furthermore, under the Digital Development Concept approved in January of this year, several measures are planned to strengthen human capital to ensure the transition to a digital society and support digital progress. These initiatives include improving digital literacy and cyber awareness among the population, training professional specialists in modern ICT fields, organizing various training programs, and fostering human capital development through cooperation between the public and private sectors.
