Expert: Underwater Energy Cable Project to Boost Energy Connectivity Between Europe and South Caucasus

Baku: The implementation of the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable project will be an important step in strengthening energy connectivity between the South Caucasus and Europe, former Bulgarian Deputy Energy Minister Yavor Kuyumdzhiev said in the latest episode of the “Azerbaijan and the World” program broadcast on the AZERTAC website.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this project envisages connecting the energy infrastructure of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Bulgaria, creating new opportunities for electricity supplies to European markets. In this context, the development of renewable energy in Azerbaijan, particularly solar power generation, is of particular importance, the expert believes.

Kuyumdzhiev emphasized that the combination of Azerbaijan’s natural potential and Bulgarian energy technology solutions could form the basis for a long-term strategic partnership. He believes that such projects not only contribute to energy integration but also enhance economic cooperation between the countries of the region.
