Europe Eyes Increased Gas Imports from Azerbaijan, Says Greek Prime Minister


Athens: Europe is seeking to enhance its gas imports from Azerbaijan, as stated by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in response to a question from Trend at the EPC summit. Mitsotakis expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s role in bolstering energy security through the supply of piped gas to the region. He emphasized that both Greece and Europe are keen on exploring additional avenues to deepen this energy partnership.



According to Trend News Agency, Mitsotakis highlighted Greece’s dual approach in strengthening its energy infrastructure. In addition to the existing cooperation with Azerbaijan, Greece is actively working to boost its capacity for importing liquefied natural gas (LNG). While acknowledging the progress achieved thus far, Mitsotakis underscored Azerbaijan’s status as a dependable and long-term energy partner for Greece. This strategic collaboration is seen as vital for enhancing energy security across Europe.
