EIB Focuses on Economic Stability and Energy Security in Caucasus Region

Brussels: Economic stability and energy security in the South Caucasus will be a priority for the European Investment Bank (EIB), APA-Economics reports. EIB Global, the international arm of the European Investment Bank, has announced its new regional activities for 2025, emphasizing the strategic importance of these sectors.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Bank’s activities in the Southern and Eastern Neighborhood regions of the European Union, which include North Africa, the Middle East, and the South Caucasus, will address broader strategic objectives. The focus areas identified by EIB Global include strengthening local economic stability and resilience, developing physical links with the European Union, and enhancing the EU’s energy security.

The new approach will see the Bank creating opportunities to increase employment in the local private sector, investing in clean energy, and other infrastructure projects. These initiatives aim to bolster both the energy and economic security of the European Union.

The policy is considered significant for deepening the economic and energy ties between the countries of the region and Europe. Additionally, EIB will support the European Commission’s Black Sea Strategy, presented in May 2025, which aims to enhance connectivity with the Trans-European Networks through investments in transport, energy, and digital infrastructure.
