Sheki: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has sanctioned a substantial loan of pound 91 million aimed at overhauling the water supply and sewage infrastructure in Sheki and its surrounding villages, APA-Economics reports. This initiative is part of a broader project with a total valuation of pound 95 million.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decision was finalized by the EBRD on April 29. The project’s primary focus is on establishing robust drinking water supply, sewage, and stormwater management systems. Additionally, the plan includes the construction of wastewater treatment facilities, which are crucial for the region.
The main objectives of this ambitious project are to ensure a continuous water supply, enhance wastewater management, and develop infrastructure resilient to flood risks, thereby improving the quality of life for the residents of Sheki and neighboring communities.
