EBRD Expands Investment Portfolio in Azerbaijan by Over 2%


Baku: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has expanded its investment portfolio in Azerbaijan, reaching £898 million as of March 31 this year. This marks an increase of 2.3%, or £21 million, compared to the previous month.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current number of active projects stands at 36. The EBRD’s portfolio in Azerbaijan primarily focuses on sustainable infrastructure, which constitutes 90% (£825 million) of the investments. The remaining investments are divided between industry, trade, and agribusiness at 7% (£63 million), and financial institutions at 3% (£30 million). The operational assets of the Bank in the country also saw a rise of 3%, reaching £716 million.



To date, the EBRD has invested a total of £3.712 billion in Azerbaijan through 202 projects, with 93.1% (£3.458 billion) of these funds already utilized by borrowers for project implementation. The private sector accounts for 40% of the portfolio, highlighting its significant role in the country’s economic landscape.



It is noteworthy that in 2025, the EBRD allocated £81 million for 10 projects in Azerbaijan, further emphasizing its commitment to the region’s development.
