Earth to observe strong geomagnetic storm on October 5-6

A strong geomagnetic storm will occur on the Earth on October 5-6 due to strong flares in the active regions of the Sun, the Department of Astrophysics of the Physics Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) told APA.

According to the report, due to the increase in solar activity, M class flares (R1-R2-minor-radio waves can be weakly blocked) and X (R3-strong) flares are forecasted to occur.

Hurricanes will be observed in the Earth’s geomagnetic field, starting from today around 12 o’clock on October 4, and including October 6.

On October 5-6, geomagnetic storms that will occur most of the day will occur at the G3 (strong) level. It is forecasted that the geomagnetic storm will weaken and fall to the background level from October 6.
