Paris: Novak Djokovic ended Cameron Norrie’s encouraging French Open run with a straight-set victory over the Briton to reach the quarter-finals. Djokovic, who is bidding for a standalone record 25th Grand Slam singles title, defeated Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
According to BBC, Norrie commented, “I was a little bit flat in some moments and I think that was the difference.” He further remarked on Djokovic’s consistent performance, noting, “I don’t see too much evolution with Novak – he’s still not missing tennis balls.”
With this win, sixth seed Djokovic will face third seed Alexander Zverev in the next round. Djokovic previously lost to Zverev in the Australian Open semi-finals in January after sustaining a hamstring injury.
In related news, Jack Draper’s defeat to Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in four sets on Monday marked the end of British interest in the singles category at the French Open.
