COP29 initiative aims to turn Middle Corridor into “green” route

BAKU: Global DTC Pte Ltd plans to propose an initiative at COP29 to make the Middle Corridor a “green” transport route, Head of Program Development at DTC, Zhanar Bagasharova, said in a statement at the session titled “International Transport Corridors in the Black and Caspian Seas” at the Black Sea-Caspian Freight Forum 2024 in Baku, Trend reports.

Bagasharova put her cards on the table, highlighting the company’s hard work to bring together countries along the Middle Corridor, including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

“We have successfully implemented technical integration by adding cargo tracking capabilities on our platform in collaboration with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), ADY (Azebaijan Railway), and GR (Georgian Railway). A key achievement was moving Kazakhstan out of the ‘grey zone’ by enhancing border process transparency between Kazakhstan and China, facilitated by the launch of the DTC Tez Customs – digital customs solution,” she stated.

Bagasharova also pointed out that the company is spr
eading its wings with technical integrations in countries beyond the Middle Corridor.

“We cooperate closely with Trkiye and Europe. DTC plans to present an initiative at COP29 in Baku in November to demonstrate the Middle Corridor’s use as a ‘green road’ by assessing its impact on carbon emissions and promoting carbon footprint reduction initiatives,” she added.
