Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with a delegation led by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, who is on a visit to our country, APA-Economics reports citing the Ministry.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the contribution of the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and strategic ally to strengthen energy cooperation. It was noted that the leaders of both countries attach great importance to Azerbaijani-Turkish energy cooperation. The role of joint oil and gas energy projects in ensuring the energy security of the region and European countries was discussed. Priorities in the fields of natural gas and green energy and projects on the agenda, which ensure the development of the multilateral energy partnership at a new stage, were reviewed. It was noted that the construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline will be completed soon and Nakhchivan will be supplied with gas through Trkiye by the end of the year. It was emphasized that there is a multilateral cooperation
agenda between Azerbaijan and Trkiye in the field of natural gas, and opportunities for gas supplies from Azerbaijan and third countries to Trkiye and Europe have been created by the relevant intergovernmental agreement.
At the meeting, the current status of cooperation in the field of electricity transmission from renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan and the road map on the Trkiye – Azerbaijan Interaction Project through Nakhchivan were also reviewed. It was noted the importance of accelerating the relevant processes, including the speedy completion of the draft Terms of Reference by the Working Group operating on the issues of electricity export to Trkiye and Europe through Nakhchivan, the signing of the relevant Operating Agreement between the parties, and the selection of a consulting company to start the feasibility study of the project. The next steps in this direction have been determined.
The sides also touched upon the holding of the 4th Azerbaijan-Trkiye Energy Forum this year and noted that sus
tainable measures in this format will contribute to the development of cooperation in the field of energy in different directions.
