BTC Pipeline Reaches 4.6 Billion Barrels Milestone in Oil Transportation

Baku: The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline has successfully transported 4.6 billion barrels of oil to global markets since its commissioning in June 2006. Approximately $60 million was spent on operating expenditures and $30 million on capital expenditures for the pipeline in the first half of this year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, BP’s report on its activities in Azerbaijan for the third quarter of this year highlights that the 1,768 km-long BTC pipeline has transported approximately 605 million tonnes of crude oil until the end of the first half of 2025. This oil has been loaded onto 6,007 tankers at Ceyhan for delivery to various world markets.

In the first half of the current year, about 13 million tonnes (around 106 million barrels) of crude oil and condensate were exported via the BTC pipeline. These exports were loaded onto 145 tankers at the Ceyhan terminal for dispatch.

The BTC pipeline primarily transports oil from Azerbaijan’s ACG fields and Shah Deniz condensate. It also carries other regional crude oil and condensate volumes from the Caspian region, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and additional volumes from Azerbaijan produced by SOCAR.
