BEU Graduate Secures Prestigious Chevening Scholarship to Study in the UK

Baku: Ilgar Hashimov, a bachelor’s graduate in World Economy from the Baku Engineering University (BEU), has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship of the UK Government. Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, Hashimov will pursue a master’s degree in Financial Economics at the University of Warwick, a leading higher education institution in the United Kingdom. The scholarship, valued at over £51,920 (approximately AZN 120,000), covers tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel expenses, and other related costs.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, more than 109,000 candidates from around the world applied for the Chevening Scholarship Program this year. Out of these, only 700 applicants were awarded the scholarship, with just three candidates from Azerbaijan being selected for this prestigious program.

Hashimov has held various positions in finance and reporting at KPMG Azerbaijan, PASHA Bank, and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. Currently, he serves as Head of the Reporting Department at AzerGold CJSC, showcasing his professional experience and leadership potential.
