Berlin: The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany organized a commemorative event at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Berlin to mark the 36th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy. The ceremony commenced with a solemn minute of silence to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, a German language film depicting the January 20 tragedy was screened at the event. Nasimi Aghayev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany, and Fidan Damer, a Board Member of the German-Azerbaijani Forum, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.
Participants also viewed a documentary titled ‘Born on January 20,’ which highlighted the selfless resistance of Azerbaijani sailors against the Soviet army during those difficult days. The event continued with a photo exhibition that showcased the events of the 20 January tragedy, providing a visual narrative of the historical events commemorated.
