Baku: Baku Steel Company CJSC (BSC) has successfully passed the audit conducted by the American Petroleum Institute (API), APA reports. This achievement marks an important milestone for BSC in its pursuit of quality and compliance in the oil and gas sectors.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, BSC has completed the certification process in accordance with the API Spec Q1 standard. This certification outlines the quality management system requirements for manufacturers of products used in the oil and gas industry. With this certification, BSC has earned the right to use the API 5CT and 5L specification monograms, which signify adherence to stringent product requirements.
The API Spec Q1 certificate represents a commitment by manufacturers in the oil and gas industry to implement management systems that ensure quality control, continuous improvement, proper planning, and risk management. The API 5CT and API 5L monograms further confirm the high standards, safety, and compliance of casing pipes and general-purpose pipes used across various industries.
Over the past year, BSC has implemented significant improvements to secure API certification and enhance the quality of its steel products. These improvements include the commissioning of a vacuum degassing unit to enhance the physical and chemical qualities of steel billets by removing hydrogen, and the acquisition and commissioning of new equipment to integrate advanced solutions in the production process.
Furthermore, BSC has upgraded some existing equipment and processes, reviewed and optimized procedures, manuals, and internal standards to ensure efficient interaction between production and quality assurance units. Additionally, internal and external trainings were organized for employees across all levels to reinforce quality management.
By successfully obtaining the API certification, BSC strengthens its position in the Caucasus region as a leading producer of safe, high-quality steel seamless pipes, including those used for casing and general purposes.
