Baku International Sea Port Surpasses 7 Million Tons of Cargo in Eleven Months

Baku: In the first eleven months of this year, Baku International Sea Port handled 7.547 million tons of cargo, APA-Economics reports. This significant achievement was highlighted during a media tour organized at the port area.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the port’s cargo handling capacity has seen a substantial increase since 2018, when the modern port complex in the Alat settlement was commissioned. At that time, the port managed 3.787 million tons, whereas this year, it has already reached 7.547 million tons in just eleven months. Officials on the media tour noted that this growth underscores the port’s status as a reliable logistics hub in the region and marks a new phase in the development of Azerbaijan’s logistics system. The increased cargo throughput is said to bolster Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a logistics route between the East and the West.

The media tour further highlighted the implementation of green and digital logistics solutions at the Port of Baku. This development, along with deeper integration along the Middle Corridor, is expected to lead to larger cargo volumes, expanded trade relations, and increased value to Azerbaijan’s economy.
