Baku Emerges as a Key Hub for Asian Diplomacy

Baku:As leaders and senior officials from across Asia gathered in Baku for the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Muhammad Ali Pasha, Chairman of The Gulf Observer Research Forum, shared insights on Azerbaijan’s growing diplomatic influence.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Mr. Pasha highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic role in facilitating dialogue among diverse Asian nations. He emphasized the significance of the summit as a testament to Azerbaijan’s expanding diplomatic clout, as demonstrated by President Ilham Aliyev’s numerous bilateral meetings with key leaders, including those from China and Central Asia.

Mr. Pasha noted that Azerbaijan’s proven ability to convert political connections into tangible outcomes in transport and energy makes it central to the Middle Corridor, a vital trade route linking China to Europe. The country’s chairmanship of CICA, extended for another two years, aligns with its focus on connectivity and sustainable development.

In his summit address, President Aliyev underscored the importance of international law, pointing out past failures in enforcing United Nations Security Council resolutions concerning Azerbaijan. He stressed that Azerbaijan seeks peace, not revenge, offering a new beginning in relations with neighboring Armenia.

Azerbaijan’s emphasis on connectivity is seen as both an economic opportunity and a diplomatic strategy, enhancing its role as a bridge between Europe and Asia. The legacy of the Baku summit will be measured by the sustained development of partnerships and stability in the region.
