Bakhtiyar Guliyev Commemorated 32 Years After Martyrdom in Aghdam Cemetery

Aghdam: Bakhtiyar Guliyev, one of the first martyrs of Garabagh, was commemorated at the cemetery where he was buried, 32 years after his death. The event marked the first commemoration on his birthday since 1993, as reported by APA’s local bureau.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ceremony took place in the liberated village of Shikhbabali in Aghdam. It was attended by Guliyev’s relatives, public representatives, war veterans, and several residents of the village. The participants gathered at Guliyev’s memorial grave, offering prayers for the souls of all martyrs.

During the event, speeches were delivered that reflected on the life and sacrifice of Bakhtiyar Guliyev. Relatives of the 16-year-old, who was martyred alongside Ali Hajiyev during a peaceful march from Aghdam to Askeran in 1988, expressed pride in Guliyev’s allegiance to his homeland amidst the Armenians’ territorial claims in Garabagh.

It is noteworthy that the remains of Bakhtiyar Guliyev’s gravestone were found last year, but due to the destruction, the precise location of his grave has not been identified. Consequently, a memorial grave has been established for him among other martyr graves.
