AzInTelecom Blocks Nearly 68,000 Cloned IMEI Codes in Azerbaijan

Baku: ‘AzInTelecom’ LLC, part of AZCON Holding, is continuing its initiative to prevent the registration of mobile devices with duplicated IMEI codes in Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the company has identified and blocked 67,705 IMEI codes with a “clone” status. These codes have been detected on the network, linked with 1,612,873 mobile numbers over the past three months. The Mobile Device Registration System managed by ‘AzInTelecom’ has thwarted 1,540,604 attempts to connect to the network using these cloned IMEI codes.

‘AzInTelecom’ LLC is proactive in monitoring and investigating suspected duplicated IMEI codes. Those confirmed as duplicates are given a “clone” status, which restricts their usage within the network.

In accordance with the “Rules for the Registration of Mobile Devices” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, it is mandatory for mobile devices imported into Azerbaijan to have their IMEI codes registered within 30 days to access the country’s telecommunications network. Users can verify the authenticity of mobile device IMEI codes on the mygov portal.
