The company’s progress over the last decade has been noted as a remarkable example of how a national project can evolve into a leader in the region. Typically, national communications satellite projects focus on domestic markets, serving as vital infrastructure for governments to address digital divides within their countries. However, Azerbaijan’s Azercosmos stands out as a notable success story in this domain.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ksenia Drozdova, Director General of Intersputnik, emphasized the unique nature of Azercosmos’s accomplishments on international platforms. The company has not only made its mark in the South Caucasus and Caspian Sea regions but has also expanded its influence to Central Asia, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Originally established as a satellite communications operator, Azercosmos has diversified its offerings by incorporating earth observation and remote sensing services, enhancing its portfolio in the space sector.
