Baku: Azerbaijan has successfully generated AZN 121 million in revenue through strategic management of state funds, as confirmed by the Ministry of Finance. The initiative, which began in April 2025, involves placing funds from the unified treasury account into deposits using an auction method to enhance state budget management and increase revenues.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this mechanism allows temporarily unused state budget funds to be deposited in the banking sector via transparent and competitive deposit auctions. Banks participate by submitting bids based on interest rates, with deposits awarded to those offering the highest rates. This strategy not only boosts interest income for the state budget but also enhances liquidity within the banking sector.
Over a span of nine months last year, these deposit auctions generated interest income amounting to 98.6 million manats for the state budget. Additionally, the Central Bank facilitated the management of foreign currency funds in liquid assets abroad, yielding further interest income of 22.4 million manats over the year.
Consequently, the efficient management of the unified treasury account has resulted in a substantial revenue contribution of 121 million manats to Azerbaijan’s state budget in 2025.
