Azerbaijan’s Religious Leaders Unite in Support of President Ilham Aliyev


Baku: Leaders of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan have adopted an appeal to President Ilham Aliyev.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the religious leaders expressed their gratitude to President Aliyev for declaring 2025 as the ‘Year of Constitution and Sovereignty’ in Azerbaijan, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Great Karabakh Victory. The appeal highlighted the historic significance of documents signed during a high-level reception in a leading global country, underscoring Azerbaijan’s diplomatic achievements.



The appeal commended President Aliyev for restoring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, pointing to his political leadership as a factor in gaining international recognition. The waiver of Section 907 by former US President Donald Trump, which was highlighted in the appeal, was seen as a gesture of respect and trust towards Azerbaijan and its leader. The appeal also mentioned the strategic cooperation established between Azerbaijan and the United States, attributing it to President Aliyev’s successful state policy.



The religious leaders praised Azerbaijan’s model of coexistence and inter-religious harmony, crediting President Aliyev’s efforts in fostering human solidarity and preserving spiritual heritage. The appeal expressed unwavering support for the president’s policies, both domestic and international, and conveyed their prayers for his continued success. The signatories included prominent religious figures such as Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Bishop Alexiy, and others representing various faith communities in Azerbaijan.
