Azerbaijan’s Mining Industry Sees Decline in Oil and Gas Production

Baku: From January to November this year, the total value of production in Azerbaijan’s mining industry amounted to 34,821.8 billion manats, representing a 2.3% decrease compared to the same period last year. According to APA-Economics, which cites the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee, this decline is primarily attributed to a reduction in crude oil and natural gas production.

Out of the mentioned total indicator, 31,612.8 million manat accounted for crude oil and natural gas production, which is 2.4% less in an annual comparison.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, The report indicates that the production of commercial crude oil, the main product of the sector, amounted to 25,266.2 thousand tons, showing a decrease of 4.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, commercial natural gas production increased by 1.1%, reaching 35,507.8 million cubic meters.

The volume of production in the mining industry reveals that while crude oil and natural gas production saw a slight decline, the mining of metal ores increased significantly by 39.3%, and other sectors of the mining industry grew by 10.6%. The provision of services to the mining industry, however, saw a decrease, with production valued at 2,348.8 million manats, marking a 7% reduction.

Key indicators show that the finished product inventory for crude oil, including gas condensate, stood at 212.6 thousand tons as of December 1, 2025, while no finished product inventory was reported for natural gas. The report underscores the mixed performance within Azerbaijan’s mining sector, with some areas experiencing growth while others face declines.
