Baku: Azerbaijan’s IRIA and AKM teams have been ranked in the top ten at the Cyber Incident Defence Challenge (CIDC 2025), held on October 9-10 at the Baku Congress Center. The Innovation and Digital Development Agency confirmed the success of these teams in one of the country’s leading cybersecurity events.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event gathered Azerbaijan’s premier cybersecurity teams to compete in a cyber warfare contest based on realistic attack and defense scenarios. The competition also featured a cybersecurity solutions exhibition, where the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center (AKM), under the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, showcased local innovative products ‘GAIA’ and ‘Awero.’ The exhibition highlighted the functionality and practical applications of these solutions.
The CIDC 2025 program included panel discussions, notably one titled ‘A New Playground for Cybercriminals: Smart Cities,’ where Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, discussed the cybersecurity challenges of smart city infrastructure. He also elaborated on advanced defense models.
In the cyber warfare competition, two teams from the Innovation and Digital Development Agency excelled. The ‘Digital Rangers’ team, from the IDDA, and the ‘Dopamine’ team from the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, both achieved top ten rankings in the competition final. AKM’s involvement in CIDC 2025 is significant for fostering both local and international partnerships in cybersecurity, enhancing collaborations, and showcasing Azerbaijan’s cybersecurity capabilities on a global platform.
