Baku:The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has announced an increase in its forecasts for the country’s current account surplus for the years 2026 and 2027. This update was included in the CBA’s statement on the parameters of the interest rate corridor.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the updated forecasts estimate the current account surplus will reach $8.5 billion in 2026 and $5.4 billion in 2027. These figures represent more than 10% and 6% of the nation’s GDP, respectively.
The revision of these forecasts is attributed to sustained high prices for major export products and ongoing positive trends in the exports of non-oil and gas goods and services. Additionally, data from the State Customs Committee indicates that Azerbaijan achieved a positive foreign trade balance of $10.5 billion from January to September this year.
