Azerbaijan’s Central Bank Ceases Bulgarian Lev Exchange Rate Publication Post Euro Adoption

Baku: The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has announced the cessation of publishing the exchange rate for the Bulgarian lev. This decision follows Bulgaria’s adoption of the euro as its official currency starting January 1, 2026. Consequently, as of January 5, 2026, the Bulgarian lev has been excluded from the list of official exchange rates maintained by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the move aligns with Bulgaria’s integration into the eurozone, which necessitated the transition from the Bulgarian lev to the euro. This development reflects the broader economic adjustments following Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone, affecting financial and economic exchanges involving the Bulgarian currency.
