Baku: Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has reported the discovery of 475 mines and 1,991 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the liberated territories over the past month. These findings were part of ANAMA’s ongoing operations aimed at ensuring the safety and security of these regions.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAMA identified 321 anti-personnel mines and 154 anti-tank mines in areas including Tartar, Aghdam, Aghdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankandi, Kalbajar, Khojavand, Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan. The operations have resulted in the clearance of 7,440.2 hectares of land from these hazardous remnants of conflict.
ANAMA’s efforts are critical in facilitating the safe return of displaced persons and the redevelopment of affected areas, as they continue to address the threats posed by mines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories.
