Baku: Gashim Magomedov, representing the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Azerbaijani national team, has achieved significant success at the World Taekwondo Championships held in Wuxi, China.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Magomedov clinched the bronze medal in the fiercely contested 58 kg weight category. Competing against approximately 1,000 athletes from over 100 nations, Magomedov emerged victorious over opponents from India, Uzbekistan, Serbia, and Turkey to secure his place on the honorary podium. The medal was accompanied by a diploma for his commendable performance.
This championship, which will conclude on October 30, witnessed a record participation of 991 athletes from 179 countries, with Azerbaijan being represented by nine fighters. Gashim Magomedov’s achievement adds to his already impressive record, having previously won a silver medal in the 58 kg weight category at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.
