Baku: There must be a railway that can also connect Nakhchivan with Trkiye, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with local television channels on January 5. He emphasized the importance of coordinating such infrastructure projects to ensure their successful implementation.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted that road projects could be executed more swiftly within Azerbaijani territory. He mentioned that there are no longer any issues concerning the Zangezur Corridor within the country. The President also revealed Azerbaijan’s initiative to construct a bridge over the Araz River in the Aghband settlement, which aims to streamline the route from the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, reducing it to a mere 45-50 kilometers via Iran. This development will establish two connections between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, one through Armenia and the other through Iran, effectively uniting Nakhchivan, East Zangezur, and Garabagh into a single region.
