Azerbaijani President Highlights New Era of Development in Southern Caucasus

Davos: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed his honor in receiving the ‘Zayed Award for Human Fraternity’ during an interview with ‘Euronews’. He emphasized that the award, named after the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed, is a recognition of Azerbaijan’s efforts to promote peace in the Caucasus after decades of conflict.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev noted that the Southern Caucasus is entering a new phase of development, marked by several months of peace. This period of tranquility is unprecedented in Azerbaijan’s history of independence and presents significant opportunities for the region. The President highlighted the evolving relationship between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which is transitioning from conflict to cooperation. Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on cargo transportation to Armenia and begun supplying essential goods, particularly oil products, that Armenia relies on. This mutual benefit is seen as a step towards achieving enduring peace in the Caucasus, a goal that President Aliyev believes is attainable through the joint efforts of both nations and their civil societies.
