Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has criticized the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for what he described as double standards in its dealings with Azerbaijan. Speaking via video link at the 8th European Political Community Summit, President Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s recent efforts to address separatism in Garabagh, a region that has been the focus of longstanding territorial disputes.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan had successfully implemented four UN Security Council resolutions from 1993, which had remained unfulfilled for three decades. Despite these efforts, PACE imposed sanctions on the Azerbaijani delegation just four months later. Aliyev asserted that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity should be valued equally to that of other countries, condemning the double standards he perceives in PACE’s actions as unacceptable.
