Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has publicly extended his congratulations to the Qarabag football club following their victory over Eintracht in the Champions League’s league phase.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev shared his sentiments on social media, praising the team for their “brilliant victory” despite facing what he described as “unfair and biased decisions” by the referee. He highlighted that this was not the first instance of such challenges, suggesting that referees appointed by UEFA have previously attempted to hinder Qarabag’s success through questionable officiating.
President Aliyev expressed hope that UEFA would investigate the appointment of the referee responsible for the match. He concluded his message by emphasizing the resilience and spirit of the team, asserting that “it is impossible to defeat justice and an unbreakable spirit,” and ended with an enthusiastic “Long live Qarabag!”
