Davos: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that countries should no longer depend heavily on international institutions during a panel session titled ‘Defining Eurasia’s Economic Identity’ in Davos. His remarks came in the context of a discussion on the increasing complexity of the global situation, as reported by APA’s correspondent.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev referenced a significant diplomatic achievement following a military clash in September 2023. In August 2025, a declaration was signed with the Prime Minister of Armenia in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, marking the initialing of a peace agreement. President Trump acted as a witness to the declaration, which symbolically ended the conflict in a prominent global venue. Aliyev underscored the importance of taking control of national situations and remaining committed to national interests for achieving success, despite the apparent crumbling of multilateralism, unilateralism, and protectionism.
President Aliyev partly agreed with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s assessment of the complex global situation but did not share his pessimism. He emphasized the potential for success through national commitment and leadership, while highlighting the breakdown of international cooperative frameworks.
