Ashgabat: Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov has paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Azerbaijani embassy in Turkmenistan. He laid flowers at the bust of Heydar Aliyev, marking the annual Memorial Day for the national leader.

According to Trend News Agency, December 12th is observed as Memorial Day for Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern independent Azerbaijan. This day commemorates the anniversary of his death in 2003 and is a time when Azerbaijanis honor his significant contributions to the nation’s statehood, stability, and development. The day is marked by ceremonies, tributes, and the laying of flowers at his memorial in Baku’s Alley of Honors.

The Prime Minister is currently on an official visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where he is attending an international forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The event coincides with International Neutrality Day and the proclamation of 2025 as the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust.’ The forum has gathered high-level delegations from around the world, including presidents and prime ministers from various countries, as well as representatives of numerous international and regional organizations.

Turkmenistan’s dedication to neutrality was formally acknowledged on December 12, 1995, through a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly.
