Baku: On December 23, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a telephone conversation with Khaled El-Enany, the newly elected Director-General of UNESCO. Minister Bayramov extended his congratulations to El-Enany on his recent election and conveyed his best wishes for success in his new position.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the two officials commended the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO, expressing their willingness to strengthen these relations further. They highlighted Azerbaijan’s significant role in promoting multicultural diplomacy and intercultural dialogue, discussing potential initiatives and future collaborations with UNESCO.
During the conversation, Minister Bayramov underscored the importance of fostering trust in UNESCO and avoiding the politicization of its activities. He also informed the Director-General about the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), set to take place in Baku in 2026, as well as the Baku Process and the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, extending an invitation for El-Enany to participate in these key events.
Furthermore, Bayramov addressed the landmark Washington Summit and recent regional developments in the post-conflict context. Both officials exchanged perspectives on various regional issues of shared interest.
