Azerbaijani Families Protest in Front of European Parliament Over Missing Persons

Brussels:Families from Azerbaijan gathered in front of the European Parliament in Brussels to protest on October 20, 2026. The protest was organized by the “Karabakh Missing Persons’ Families” Public Union to draw attention to the issue of missing persons from Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the demonstrators read a statement highlighting the plight of families who have heard nothing about their loved ones for over three decades. The statement emphasized the absence felt in homes where no one has knocked for years, with mothers waiting for their children and children unable to remember their parents’ faces.

The protest underscored that during the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territories, 4,010 Azerbaijanis went missing, including 71 children, 288 women, and 319 elderly individuals. The statement stressed the importance of resolving these cases as part of advancing a peace agenda, pointing out that true peace should be experienced not only at the state level but also in the lives of individuals affected by the conflict.
