Lisbon:The 68th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Judges took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from October 15 to 21. The event saw participation from Azerbaijan, with representatives including Ramiz Rzayev, Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Judges; Deputy Chairmen Sanan Hajiyev and Aladdin Jafarov; and Khagani Mammadov, Chairman of the Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, speakers at the meeting highlighted the critical role of judicial independence in maintaining the rule of law. They also discussed the increasing influence of judges’ associations in countering negative trends in the judicial sector observed in recent years.
During the meeting, a new working group was formed to address the integration of artificial intelligence in judicial processes and promote the sharing of experiences among members. Sanan Hajiyev from the Azerbaijani delegation was elected to join this working group.
