Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora Groups Forge Stronger Relations in Strategic Dialogue

Baku: Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, recently convened with a Turkish delegation led by Abdulhadi Turus, Acting Head of the General Directorate for Turks Living Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) of Trkiye.

According to Trend News Agency, this meeting focused on enhancing the collaboration between Azerbaijani and Turkish diaspora groups, reflecting the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The dialogue underscored the friendly and fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, which are bolstered by the strong relationship between their respective presidents. This political solidarity is seen as a foundation for further cooperation between the peoples of both countries. Muradov highlighted the importance of joint activities and cooperation projects with Turkic-speaking states, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts between diaspora organizations in Azerbaijan and Trkiye.

Key discussions included the provisions of the Shusha Declaration concerning diaspora activities, which advocate for collaboration among Turkic-speaking countries and outline responsibilities for diaspora organizations. Turus expressed appreciation for the meeting’s hospitality, noting the potential for expanding joint initiatives and the significance of projects that consider the perspectives of the newer generation within the diaspora.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exchange experiences, particularly in diaspora and lobbying efforts, to foster a unified strategy that bridges different cultures. This approach aims to enhance the global perception of both countries, thereby injecting new energy into their respective diaspora policies.

The parties also reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 10, 2018, between the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Directorate for Turks Abroad and Related Communities of Trkiye, which laid the groundwork for ongoing cooperation in diaspora policy.
