Azerbaijani and Hungarian Defense Chiefs Discuss Strategic Military Cooperation


Baku: On May 6, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, received a delegation led by the Chief of General Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces, General Dr. G¡bor B¶r¶ndi. The Hungarian delegation’s visit to Azerbaijan was at the invitation of First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delegation began their official visit by paying respects at the graves of the National Leader of Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and renowned ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, in the Alley of Honor. They laid wreaths and flowers to honor their memory. Additionally, the Hungarian delegation visited Victory Park, where they laid a wreath at the Victory Monument.



During the meeting at the Ministry of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov expressed satisfaction with the current military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary. He highlighted the support received from Hungary at various levels and emphasized the potential for developing strategic cooperation further.



General Dr. G¡bor B¶r¶ndi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality. He underscored the importance of such visits and meetings in enhancing Azerbaijani-Hungarian relations, which are founded on mutual trust and friendship. The discussion focused on future prospects for military cooperation and other topics of mutual interest.



An official welcoming ceremony was held at the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, where the Chiefs of Staff from both countries reviewed the guard of honor, and the national anthems of both nations were performed. General Dr. G.B¶r¶ndi signed the Book of Honor as part of the official protocol.



Colonel General K.Valiyev also held discussions with his Hungarian counterpart, where both sides exchanged views on the current state and further development of military cooperation. They noted the importance of exchanging experiences and holding joint exercises to enhance the professionalism of their servicemen.
