Azerbaijani and Belgian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation


Brussels: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Pr©vot, engaged in a phone conversation to discuss several pressing issues, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to APA.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the dialogue between the two ministers covered the security situation in the Middle East, the bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Belgium, and potential cooperation within the European Union framework. Both ministers expressed concern over the military escalation in the Middle East and underscored the necessity of resolving conflicts through diplomatic approaches.



Additionally, the Belgian minister expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan following a drone attack originating from Iranian territory towards Nakhchivan and conveyed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s assistance in facilitating the evacuation of Belgian citizens from Iran.



The conversation also included discussions on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov updated his Belgian counterpart on efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and regional stability. Both sides emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and existing mechanisms such as political consultations, mutual visits, and high-level contacts to enhance cooperation on mutual interests between Azerbaijan and Belgium.
