Lachin: A Summit of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Trkiye, and Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was held in Lachin, APA reports. The meeting, symbolically held on Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, marked the second Azerbaijan-Trkiye-Pakistan Summit, with the first having taken place in July of the previous year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the distinguished leaders and emphasized the historical and cultural bonds that unite Azerbaijan, Trkiye, and Pakistan. He highlighted the nations’ shared commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and justice, expressing gratitude for the support of Trkiye and Pakistan during Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War in 2020. President Aliyev underscored the potential for cooperation in various sectors, including energy, transport, and defense, and announced Azerbaijan’s planned investments in Trkiye and Pakistan.
President Erdogan of Trkiye addressed the Summit, reiterating the importance of solidarity among the three nations. He congratulated Azerbaijan on its Independence Day and reflected on the liberation of Azerbaijani lands. Erdogan emphasized the strategic cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and transport, and expressed Trkiye’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts between Pakistan and India.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan expressed gratitude for the hospitality received and highlighted the deep historical ties between the three countries. He acknowledged the support from Azerbaijan and Trkiye during Pakistan’s recent conflict with India and advocated for peaceful resolution of ongoing disputes through dialogue. Sharif highlighted the importance of the trilateral format for fostering regional stability and cooperation.
The Summit concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthen trilateral ties, with intentions to organize regular meetings to further institutionalize the partnership.
