Accra:The Republic of Azerbaijan is set to approve the “Partially Revised Radio Regulations and its Appendices” with a specific declaration, as reported by APA. This development involves a proposed amendment to the Law “On Electronic Commerce,” which is being discussed by the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Azerbaijan’s declaration emphasizes its right to take necessary measures to protect its interests if any International Telecommunication Union (ITU) member fails to comply with the ITU Constitution and Convention, Radio Regulations, or the Final Acts of the World Radiocommunication Conference held in Dubai in 2023. The declaration further asserts Azerbaijan’s right to act against any foreign telecommunications services or radiocommunication equipment that contravenes ITU principles or Azerbaijani national laws within its internationally recognized territory.
The declaration also reaffirms past reservations and declarations made by Azerbaijan at previous radiocommunication conferences. Furthermore, Azerbaijan will notify the ITU of its consent to be bound by the revised regulations before they take effect and reserves the right to amend its declarations and reservations upon ratification.
