Azerbaijan to Merge Scientific Institutes and Create Two New Institutions


Baku: Azerbaijan is set to undergo a significant transformation in its scientific landscape as institutes with similar areas of activity are scheduled to be merged, resulting in the formation of two new scientific institutions. According to a decree issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which aims to optimize the activities and enhance the efficiency of scientific institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education (MSE), structural changes are anticipated for several research institutes.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree serves as a strategic document to advance scientific management and bolster collaboration between institutions. This structural optimization will lead to the creation of eight specialized institutes, encompassing the fields of Geology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Living Systems, and Molecular Biology. Furthermore, two new scientific entities designed to align with modern scientific infrastructure and international standards will be established. The decree also outlines the transfer of certain research institutes to regional state universities, a move expected to enhance the integration of science and education. Additionally, some scientific and production associations with lower operational efficiency will be discontinued.
