Azerbaijan to Implement New Transport Sector Standards

Baku: The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND) has announced that Azerbaijan will adopt four new state standards in the transport sector following a recent online meeting of the ‘Road Transport’ Technical Committee on standardization (AZSTAND/TK 19). These standards are part of the Technical Committee’s 2025 Action Plan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting focused on discussing draft standards essential for the approval of various vehicle components and systems. The standards include AZS ECE 21, which covers the approval of vehicle interior fittings, AZS ECE 16, which pertains to safety-belts and restraint systems, AZS ECE 51, which involves noise emissions for motor vehicles with at least four wheels, and AZS ECE 85, which relates to the approval of internal combustion engines or electric drive trains with regard to power measurement. These standards will be submitted to AZSTAND for official adoption.

The meeting also included a periodic review of the existing state standard AZS 122, which addresses safety glass for land vehicles. This review was conducted by the AZSTAND/TK 19 committee as part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve safety standards in the transport sector.
