Baku: Fines for the illegal removal of national cultural heritage objects included in the list of protected cultural assets from the territory of Azerbaijan are being doubled, APA reports. This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses discussed at the joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committees on Law Policy and State Building and on Culture.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft amendments specify that for the illegal removal of national cultural heritage objects included in the list of protected assets from Azerbaijan, individuals will face fines of 3,000 manats, officials 6,000 manats, and legal entities 20,000 manats. Additionally, for relocating cultural assets without approval, or for carrying out work that threatens these assets, the penalties will be identical: 3,000 manats for individuals, 6,000 manats for officials, and 20,000 manats for legal entities.
Under the current Code, the fines for illegal removal of protected cultural heritage items are 1,500 manats for individuals, 3,000 manats for officials, and 10,000 manats for legal entities. Similarly, for unauthorized alteration or relocation of these assets, the existing fines align with those figures.
