Baku: Azerbaijan is set to establish a phonogram database to preserve its musical heritage. Samples of folk music will be recorded in audio or video form, either in their original or reworked versions, as part of this initiative.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this plan is part of the ‘Azerbaijan Culture – 2040’ Concept of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which has been approved by an order of President Ilham Aliyev. The project is scheduled to be prepared and implemented between 2026 and 2030 by the Ministry of Culture and the Intellectual Property Agency.
The phonogram database aims to safeguard the rich musical traditions of Azerbaijan, ensuring that both original and reimagined versions of folk music are accessible for future generations.
