Azerbaijan Strengthens Diplomatic Ties with Africa Through New Visa Agreements

Kampala: Azerbaijan has taken significant steps to bolster its diplomatic relations with African nations by signing key agreements during the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Kampala, Uganda. The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov, participated actively in discussions aimed at enhancing global peace and security, advancing sustainable development, and increasing NAM’s institutional potential.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Samir Sharifov addressed the meeting, emphasizing Azerbaijan’s initiatives during its NAM Chairmanship. He highlighted contributions made to improve NAM’s institutional potential and stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among the member states. Sharifov also provided updates on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and the country’s ongoing restoration efforts in liberated territories.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Azerbaijan signed agreements with Uganda and Somalia to exempt mutual visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports. These agreements are expected to expand Azerbaijan’s bilateral relations with African countries, facilitate mutual visits, and strengthen diplomatic ties further.
