Baku: The final court hearing in the criminal case against Tural Aliyev, the executive director of “Zeromap” LLC, concluded with a prison sentence following a State Security Service operation. Aliyev faced charges of creating programs to infiltrate mobile phones and technical devices and illegally obtaining computer data.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Yasamal District Court, presided over by Judge Rashad Javadzade, heard the defense lawyer’s request to consider Aliyev’s confessions, marital status, and contributions to state-important works. The defense sought a sentence that would not involve imprisonment.
In his final statement, Aliyev appealed for a fair verdict. After deliberation, the court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment. Aliyev was charged under Articles 271.2.1, 272.2.1, and 273-1.1 of the Criminal Code, covering illegal access to computer systems, acquisition of computer data, and circulation of tools for cybercrimes.
The indictment revealed that Aliyev had interfered with mobile phones and computer systems of local and foreign entities for four years. His cyberattacks also accessed non-public information from foreign companies.
