Baku: Azerbaijan has strategically positioned itself as a critical transport hub in Eurasia, ensuring that significant transit routes now cross through its territory, according to the country’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Nabiyev highlighted this development during a special session titled ‘Cities at the heart of connectivity: Urban reconstruction and regional cooperation’ at the WUF13. He noted that since 2021, Azerbaijan has successfully redirected transit routes that could have bypassed the nation, effectively doubling the volume of transit transportation through its borders.
Nabiyev’s remarks underscore Azerbaijan’s growing influence in regional transport logistics, with the country playing a vital role in facilitating trade and connectivity across Eurasia. By ensuring that these crucial transit routes pass through its territory, Azerbaijan strengthens its economic position and enhances its strategic significance in the region.
