Baku: Azerbaijan refunded more than AZN 10 million in VAT to foreign consumers last year. This amount was returned for goods purchased for personal use within the country by non-citizens.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the total VAT refunded from the state budget for these purchases amounted to 10 million 533.3 thousand manats. The State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy highlighted the significance of these refunds in promoting consumer spending by foreign visitors.
Last year, the broader ‘VAT Refund’ project saw more than 191 million manats refunded to consumers, indicating the scale of the initiative aimed at encouraging economic activity through tax reimbursements.
